RusAl ready to restart construction of Boguchansk aluminum plant

KRASNOYARSK. Dec 23 (Interfax) - UC RusAL is ready to restart construction of Boguchansk aluminum plant, RusAl head Oleg Deripaska told journalists in Krasnoyarsk.

"The market is now improving, we are ready to restart construction," he said, adding: "this will be a joint decision with RusHydro " bearing in mind the position of the state regarding the BEMO project. Deripaska said: "of primary discussion now is the provision of capacity for stabilizing reserves following the accident at Sayano-Shushenskaya GRES."

The project Boguchansk Energy & Metallurgical Association (BEMO) foresees the construction of Boguchansk HPP , the first section of which is 90% complete. The aluminum plant is being built in the framework of the same project, which is being implemented on a parity basis with OJSC RusHydro.
