Russian machinery exports down 21% in Jan-Nov; imports - down 50%

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Exports of equipment and machinery from Russia to non-CIS countries continued to slowly increase over the year-earlier period in January-November 2009, the Federal Customs Service said.

The service said that supply of equipment to non-CIS countries in January-November increased 4.7% year-on-year to $10.03 billion compared with growth of 1.2% in January-October.

The overall decline in exports of equipment also continued to slow. In the first 11 months of 2009, equipment exports to the non-CIS fell 20.7% to $14.227 billion, compared with a drop of 23.8% in the first 10 months.

Equipment imports fell by 50.3% to $62.419 billion in the 11 months, compared with a decline of 52.5% in January-October.

Ninety-five percent of the imported equipment and machinery originated outside the CIS. They were the destination for 70.5% of Russian equipment exports.
