ZSMK gets Lloyd's Register EMEA certification for shipbuilding slabs

KEMEROVO. Jan 13 (Interfax) - The Evraz Group's West Siberian Iron & Steel Works (ZSMK, or ZapSib) has completed a certification audit of metal slabs for shipbuilding by Lloyd's Register EMEA, the British firm that conducts technical reviews in the shipbuilding industry.

The Evraz Group has reported that the certification process for its long products to be used in the production of concast steel slabs took almost all of 2009. The certificate will expire in three years' time.

The certification of its concast slabs for shipbuilding will help the company expand its sales market and demonstrates its efforts to meet the demands of its clients, the Evraz press release says.

The shipbuilding industry is a promising avenue of development for ZSMK, which also offers five other products (welding materials) used in shipbuilding that are certified by FGU Russian River Register.

ZSMK, which produces long products for the construction and machine-building industries, is one of Russia's biggest full-cycle metallurgical companies.
