Lavrov voices hope Russia will resume importing chicken from U.S.

LONDON. Jan 27 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has expressed hope that U.S. poultry producers will begin to comply with new Russian sanitary standards to see the resumption of chicken imports.

"The American side expressed hopes concerning chicken. We, for our part, also mentioned some discriminatory restrictions that our companies are experiencing. As regards to poultry, the standards used in the Russian Federation comply with European standards," Lavrov said after a meeting in London with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
