Former Megafon legal expert becomes RosTelecom deputy general director
MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Vadim Semenov, formerly a legal expert at OJSC Megafon , has become the new deputy general director for corporate development at OJSC RosTelecom , the company said.
Semenov will oversee issues of corporate guidance, including the management of subsidiary and dependent companies, and working the legal issues in mergers and acquisitions. He had worked at Megafon for six years, where he had become legal affairs director.
Semenov was born August 21, 1965 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). He graduated Leningrad State University with a degree in jurisprudence in 1987. From 1987 to 1999, he worked various jobs in state agencies on legal issues. In 1999-2003, he was a legal associate in a series of deals involving mobile-communications company consolidation. In particular, Semenov was involved in the creation of the federal operator Megafon at the former CJSC Northwestern GSM in 2002.
RosTelecom, Russia's national long-distance operator, provides its services along its roughly 150,000km telecommunications network. Its biggest shareholder is state telecommunications holding OJSC Svyazinvest, which holds 38% of charter capital (50.67% of voting shares).
Under a reorganization scheme for Svyazinvest, RosTelecom would be the consolidation center for the state holding's assets. Stock belonging to Svyazinvest in seven interregional electronic communications companies will be converted into RosTelecom shares. The restructuring is slated to wrap up in mid-2011.
