NLMK could boost output at main facility in Lipetsk by 10%-14% in 2010

LIPETSK. Feb 9 (Interfax) - OJSC Novolipetsk Metallurgical Combine (NLMK) plans to increase output at its main facility in Lipetsk in 2010 by 10%-14% in 2010, a participant at a meeting of the Lipetsk regional administration told Interfax citing a presentation made by the group's first vice president Vladimir Nastich.

In 2009, the group's commercial output in Lipetsk came to 8.424 million tonnes, which was an increase of 0.1% from 2008. Therefore, production in Lipetsk for 2010 should come to 9.3 million-9.6 million tonnes of commercial output. NLMK declined to provide commentary to Interfax about its production forecast for 2010.

In general, NLMK Group increased steel output by 1% in 2009 to 10.6 million tonnes.

In the fourth quarter of 2009, the company's steelmaking capacity was at around 87%, including 99% at its main production plant in Lipetsk and 73% at NLMK's graded enterprises.

The NLMK group includes the core production facility Novolipetsk Steel, Denmark's DanSteel A/S, iron ore producer Stoilensky Mining and Processing , coke producer Altai-Koks, transformer steel producer VIZ-Stal and steel mini-mill developer Maxi Group.

Vladimir Lisin's Fletcher Group Holdings and LKB-Invest controls 84.6% in NLMK while the company's management holds 2.5%.
