RusHydro to begin working to attract strategic investor in 2012-2013

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - RusHydro will seriously take up the issue of attracting a strategic investor in two years, management board member George Rizhinashvili said on the sidelines of the Russia Power forum.

"In 2012-2013 we will be working on the issue of attracting a strategic investor," he said.

Rizhinashvili did not say how the strategic investor might be found. "We're looking at various options with the Energy Ministry," he said, adding that any strategic investor would probably be a foreign company as bringing an investor in was related to the company's plans to expand abroad.

A strategic investor, he said, might be brought in both as a RusHydro shareholder and as a participant in individual projects, but the state will retain a controlling stake whatever happens.
