Ukrainian PM, Gazprom discuss gas transit

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller discussed the fulfillment of long-term gas delivery contracts and the outlook for expanded cooperation in the gas sector at a meeting at Gazprom headquarters in Moscow on Thursday.

They discussed Ukraine's need to pump gas into underground storage in volumes sufficient for reliable transit shipments to Europe and supplies to Ukrainian consumers in the 2010-2011 heating season, Gazprom said in a statement.

It was reported earlier that Gazprom and Ukrainian national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy signed two contracts in January 2009: on Russian gas exports to Ukraine in the 2009-2019 period and volumes and terms of gas transit through Ukraine in the same period. Last November the companies signed a supplement to the purchase agreement that sets the contract volume in 2010 at 33.75 billion cubic meters.
