Kazakhstan boosts gas output in Jan-Mar by 6.4%

ASTANA. April 5 (Interfax) - Gas production in Kazakhstan in January-March 2010 came to 9.258 billion cubic meters, up year-on-year by 6.4%.

Natural gas output went up by 5.8% year-on-year to 4.83 bcm.

National production company KazMunayGas told Interfax that its output dropped by 4.5% to 301.11 million cubic meters.

Enterprises with the involvement of KazMunayGas in the three months produced 3.339 bcm of gas, up 7.4% year-on-year, including the TengizChevrOil joint venture, boosting output by 7.6% to 2.922 bcm.

Other enterprises in Kazakhstan increased gas output by 6.4% year-on-year to 5.618 bcm, including Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO) with 4.129 bcm of gas, up 9.9%.

Gas production in Kazakhstan in March came to 2.966 bcm.
