Bakiyev not willing to stand down, said rallying supporters in south of Kyrgyzstan
BISHKEK. April 8 (Interfax) - Kurmanbek Bakiyev has no intention of standing down as president of Kyrgyzstan and is rallying supporters in the republic's south, Roza Otunbayeva, who has headed the Government of National Trust, told a press conference on Thursday.
"The president is trying to consolidate his electorate in order to continue to defend his position," she said.
"But the opposition is demanding that he lays down his authority," she said.
"According to our information, he is currently in Dzhalal-Abad," Otunbayeva said.
