Tiancity enters licensing agreement with Korean developer Nexon

Shanghai. April 27. INTERFAX-CHINA - Shanghai Posts & Telecommunications Technology Co. Ltd., the operator of online gaming portal Tiancity.com, has entered a licensing agreement with the Korean game developer Nexon Corp. on the latter's 3D social game Nexon Star, Shanghai Posts & Telecommunications announced on April 26.

Tiancity is the exclusive operator of three other Nexon titles in mainland China - the Q-style racing game Kart Rider, massively multi-player online role-playing Game (MMORPG) Mabinogi, and massively multi-player online first-person shooting game (MMOFPS) Counter Strike Online, according to the announcement.

Kart Rider was launched in 2006 and was ranked China's fifth most popular online game as of September 2009, according to a joint report released by domestic consulting iResearch and gaming portal 17173.com.

Tiancity operates nine games in total, five of which are Korean-developed games, while the other four domestically developed. The site had 270 million registered users as of May 2009, with 55 percent aged between 18 and 24.
