Russian stocks open lower; MICEX index down 0.3% in first minute
MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - Russian stocks resumed their decline at the open on Wednesday amid declines on stock indexes in the U.S. on Tuesday and lower oil.
The MICEX index shed 0.34% to 1,388.33 points as of 10:31 a.m. and the RTS index was down 0.35% to 1,512.52 points.
RTS futures were 31 points below fair value, indicating negative investor sentiment.
Decliners on MICEX included MMC Norilsk Nickel - down 0.1%, Gazprom Neft - down 1.3%, Uralsvyazinform - down 1.2%, Sberbank Russia preferred shares - down 0.5%, Tatneft - down 0.6% and Rostelecom - down 0.3%.
