Azerbaijan reduces oil product exports 12% in Jan-April

BAKU. May 5 (Interfax) - State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) exported 669,066 tonnes of oil products in the first four months of 2010, 11.9% less than in the same period last year, the company told Interfax.

SOCAR exported 580,798 tonnes of diesel fuel in the four months, 50,813 tonnes of gasoline, 37,220 tonnes of aviation fuel and 235 tonnes of fuel oil.

In April alone, SOCAR exported 159,761 tonnes of oil products, including 130,189 tonnes of diesel fuel, 18,648 tonnes of gasoline and 10,924 tonnes of aviation fuel.

Azerbaijan has two oil refineries, both owned by SOCAR: Azerneftyag and Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery in Baku. They have combined capacity to refine 22 million tonnes of oil a year.
