Long-term deal being drafted for Russia to supply Ukraine with nuclear fuel
MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - A long-term contract is planned for Russia to supply nuclear fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power plants, an agreement to be in force from next year, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's chief of staff said on Friday.
"One of the matters that will be discussed in the course of the official visit by the president of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, to Ukraine on May 17-18 are joint moves and joint projects in the nuclear power industry. Agencies and enterprises have been instructed to prepare by June 1 of this year a long-term contract on supplies of nuclear fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power plants," Sergei Naryshkin told a briefing in Moscow.
He said the contract would take effect in 2011.
