Central Bank purchased about $5 bln on currency exchange in May
ST. PETERSBURG. May 27 (Interfax) - The Central Bank of Russia purchased about $5 billion on the domestic currency exchange in May, Central Bank Chairman Sergei Ignatyev told journalists on Thursday.
"We have not left the market. We are constantly monitoring it. In certain situations we buy and in others we sell," Ignatyev said.
Russia might register a small capital outflow in May, he said.
"Judging from the dynamic of our currency interventions in May, a small capital outflow is a possibility," Ignatyev said, adding that it is still too early to tell.
