Freight One begins test shipment of coal tar from China

IRKUTSK. May 27 (Interfax) - Russian Freight One has begun test transportation of coal tar from China.

"Freight One's Irkutsk affiliate will begin regular shipments of Chinese coal tar to Russia," the affiliate said in a statement.

The coal tar, extracted from a major coal mine in Heilongjiang province, is loaded onto rail cars at the Zabaikalsk border station.

A total of 11 cars were shipped in May. The coal tar was delivered to the Irkutsk aluminum smelter, part of United Company RUSAL (UC RUSAL), for use in making aluminum alloys.

Freight One is Russia's biggest rail freight companies. Russian Railways (RZD) is the founder and owner.

Freight One currently has more than 200,000 rail cars. It shipped 230 million tonnes in 2009.
