Ukraine boosts iron ore production 24%-37% in 5 mths

KYIV. June 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine boosted iron ore production 24%-37% in the first five months of 2010.

The Industrial Policy Ministry told Interfax that iron ore concentrate production soared 37% year-on-year to 26.378 million tonnes.

Pellets production grew 25% to 9.322 million tonnes and sinter ore - 24% to 17.056 million tonnes.

Crude iron ore production rose 36% to 31.814 million tonnes.

Ukrainian iron ore concentrate production fell 3% to 54.853 million tonnes in 2009. Prepared iron ore fell 13% to 55.28 million tonnes, including pellets - 20.435 million tonnes (up 0.1%) and sinter ore - 34.845 million tonnes (down 19%); and crude iron ore was down 8% to 65.827 million tonnes.
