Medical logistics center breaks ground in Jilin

Shanghai. June 9. INTERFAX-CHINA - Construction started at Mont Changbai Medical Logistics Center in Tonghua County, Jilin Province, on June 8, a local newspaper reported on June 9.

According to Jilin Daily, Jilin Tonghua Difu Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., Shanghai Zhongyuan Construction Group Co. Ltd. and Shanghai D-hui Investment Management Co. Ltd. will invest an aggregate RMB 1.99 billion ($291.34 million) in the project.

The center will cover an area of 930,000 square meters, and include six zones: a procurement zone for locally grown medicinal materials; a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) business and culture zone; an integrated services zone; a logistics and distribution zone; a TCM processing and packaging zone; and a TCM research and education zone.

The center will create 50,000 jobs, and the companies involved also hope to increase the amount of land in Tonghua County devoted to growing TCM medicinal materials to one million mu (666.67 million square meters) as part of the project.

The Mont Changbai area is rich in TCM medicinal materials, and the authorities in Tonghua County are making efforts to promote the development of the TCM industry.

The center is part of Zhongyuan Construction's RMB 5 billion ($732 million) China Jilin TCM Park Program, which aims to set up TCM industry parks across the province.
