Utair flies 51% more passengers in 5 mths

MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax) - Utair carried 1.664 million passengers in January-May, up 51.3% year-on-year, the airline's press office said.

Passenger turnover grew 61% to 2.78 billion passenger-km, it said.

Fixed-wing aircraft carried 4,929 tonnes of cargo, up 49.5%, and 1,390 tonnes of post, up 160% year-on-year. Helicopters carried 13,747 tonnes of cargo, up 8.3%.

Utair aims to carry over 4.8 million passengers in 2010 - 34% more than in 2009 - using more than 100 fixed-wing aircraft and more than 200 helicopters. The helicopters will operate in Russia and 11 other countries. Estimated flying hours are almost 300,000.
