Gazprom in negotiations for power asset swap with SUEK

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Gazprom is in negotiations with OJSC SUEK for a swap of power assets, the head of Gazprom Energoholding, Denis Fyodorov, told journalists on Monday in Moscow.

He said that negotiations for such swaps are continuing with OJSC Inter RAO UES , Finland's Fortum (in Russia, OJSC Fortum and IES-Holding.

Fyodorov did not say which assets were being discussed with SUEK, but he did say these were "local, small projects, insignificant in value.

He also said Gazprom has "made a lot of progress" in talks with Fortum and that the Finnish company might announce proposals on an asset swap with Gazprom by the end of June or middle of July.

Regarding talks with Inter RAO, he said these were ongoing and that the next round of talks would take place at the Energy Ministry on Monday. "There's an understanding from the point of view of assets, and the Energy Ministry backs this, but the mechanism itself [for the assets swap] is not yet very balanced," he said.
