Belarusian Energy Ministry working on gas transit suspension

MINSK. June 22 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Energy Ministry is working on implementing President Alexander Lukashenko's instructions to suspend natural gas transit across Belarus and further to Europe, Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk told Interfax.

"Transit is working so far. We are working on this [transit suspension], I have just learned this myself from the Internet," Mikhadyuk said.

Asked whether European gas consumers should be notified about the transit suspension, Mikhadyuk replied, "There is a certain procedure, and we are following it."
