Kazakhstan could boost gold output nearly 7-fold by 2015
ASTANA. June 30 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan could boost gold production 6.8-fold to 70 tonnes by 2015, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the Minerals&Metallurgy - AMM 2010 congress in Astana on Wednesday.
"I have been just told that by 2015 we have the opportunity to increase annual gold output to over 70 tonnes and rank among world's top gold producers," he said.
Kazakhstan produced 10,336 kg of refined gold in 2009, a 26% increase from 2008.
