Govt to probe massive traffic jams on Moscow avenue

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Chronic massive traffic jams on Moscow's Leningradskoye Shosse thoroughfare are "an unacceptable event in a normal economy" and "those guilty must be punished," a deputy head of the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service said on Thursday.

"I'm not sure that it's anti-monopoly legislation that [the jams represented an offense against]," Golomolzin told reporters in the Russian capital.

It would be checked whether the opening of a new terminal at Vnukovo airport was behind the jams, Golomolzin said. "We must check that because it was in a telephone message from the general director of Sheremetyevo [airport]."
