Hebei Steel largest steelmaker in May
Shanghai. July 5. INTERFAX-CHINA - Hebei Iron and Steel Group was China's largest steelmaker in May 2010, with crude steel production up 4.76 percent on a monthly basis to 4.22 million tons, according to figures released by domestic consulting firm Custeel on July 2.
Hebei Steel Group's output over the first 5 months amounted to 19.97 million tons, up 30.53 percent from the same period of 2009.
Baoshan Iron and Steel Group was the country's no. 2 steelmaker in May with a crude steel output of 3.93 million tons, up 3.93 percent from the previous month. The steel mill's output for the first five months of the year totaled 18.77 million tons, up 34.01 percent on an annual basis.
Following Baoshan Iron and Steel Group were Wuhan Iron and Steel Group (WISCO), Jiangsu Shagang Steel Group, Anben Iron and Steel Group and Shoudu Iron and Steel Group.
