Domestic TV makers to procure $5.3 bln of flat panel products from Taiwan
Shanghai. July 12. INTERFAX-CHINA - A group of eight leading mainland China color TV manufacturers plan to procure $5.3 billion worth of flat panel products from Taiwan, domestic media reported on July 12.
The eight domestic TV makers - Hisense Electric Co. Ltd., Skyworth Group, TCL Corp., Konka Group Co. Ltd., Sichuan Changhong Electric Co. Ltd., Haier Group, Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronic Co. Ltd. (XOCECO) and Panda Electronics Group Co. Ltd. - together account for more than 70 percent of the mainland China color TV market, according to news portal Yicai.
Led by the China Video Industry Association (CVIA), representatives of the mainland TV makers will travel to Taiwan in July to further cooperate with Taiwanese flat panel suppliers, according to the report.
Earlier this year, the eight TV manufacturers signed preliminary agreements with three major Taiwanese flat panel suppliers, namely AU Optronics Corp. (AUO), Chimei Innolux Corp. and CPTF Optronics Co. Ltd., to purchase flat panel products.
