CNOOC interested in LNG plant project in Nenets autonomous district

NARYAN-MAR. July 20 (Interfax) - China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) may take part in construction of an LNG plant in Nenets autonomous district that the Alltek group is planning.

CNOOC officials held talks with Alltek concerning the Pechora LNG project in Moscow on Monday, the Nenets administration told Interfax. They met on Tuesday with administration officials in Nenets autonomous district, and with top officials from SN-Neftegaz, which manages Alltek's oil and gas assets.

Alltek officials announced previously that the company sought an investor for the project to develop the Kumzhinskoye gas condensate field in Nenets and build an LNG plant. A source told Interfax that the company also contacted Gazprom concerning the project.

Pechora LNG involves construction of an LNG plant to be supplied with production from the Kumzhinskoye and Korovinskoye fields. Construction is slated to commence in 2011 and the plant will begin operating in 2015. Output will be exported to Asian-Pacific nations under long-term contracts.

The ABC1+C2 resource at Kumzhinskoye totals 104 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas and 4 million tonnes of condensate. Production at the field could reach 3.9 bcm of gas and 200,000 tonnes of condensate a year.
