Investment in the modernization of Kazakh power plants to exceed 1.1 trillion tenge by 2015

ASTANA. July 23 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's power generating companies will invest over 1.146 trillion tenge (147.65 tenge/$1 on July 23, 2010) to modernize power plants by 2015, said the Head of Kazakhstan's Coal and Power Department Zhakyl Bokenbayev.

He said that, in 2009, 39 power generating companies signed agreements with the Ministry of Industry and New technologies pledging to invest 86.6 billion tenge.

"This is not including the funds from the state and local budgets allocated to finance power generation facilities," Bokenbayev noted.
