Gold production in Russia dips 3.5% in H1

MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - The production of gold in Russia decreased 3.5% year-on-year to 74,661 tonnes in the first half of this year, the Russian gold industry union said.

Gold extraction in the first half decreased 5.1% to 63,519 tonnes.

Gold-extraction increased in June (19 tonnes versus 17.9 tonnes in June 2009), mainly owning to CJSC ZDK Polyus (Krasnoyarsk territory), CJSC Chukotka GGK, OJSC Pokrovsky Rudnik, CJSC Zoloto Severnogo Urala (Northern Urals Gold), and OJSC Buryatzoloto .
