Norilsk Nickel introduces president, Andrei Klishas to take position

MOSCOW. August 2 (Interfax) - OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel is introducing a president, who will be answerable to the company's CEO, Norilsk said in a statement.

Interros Holding Company's representative to the board of directors, Andrei Klishas, has been appointed Norilsk's president.

The statement said that the president would be responsible for implementing Norilsk's corporate strategy, improving corporate management and carrying out measures for boosting the company's market capitalization. In addition, Klishas will oversee possible mergers and acquisitions.

"The company's management has a high estimation of Klishas' professional qualities and experience. At the same time, I want to mention that this appointment should be seen not as strengthening the position of one of the shareholders in MMC Norilsk Nickel, Interros Holding Company, but as improving the company's managerial team. If you will, it could be considered the restoration of parity on the board of directors, which includes three representatives on the main shareholders, Interros and UC RusAl, three independent directors and four MMC top-managers," the statement said quoting company CEO Vladimir Strzhalkovsky.

Klishas chaired Norilsk Nickel's board of directors between 2001 and 2008. He has been a member of the board since 2008, as well as the head of its committee for corporate management, personnel and compensation.
