NDRC requires local authorities to draft low carbon development plans

Shanghai. August 10. INTERFAX-CHINA - The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) released a notice on August 10 requiring five provinces and eight cities to create low carbon development plans.

According to the NDRC notice, the provinces of Guangdong, Liaoning, Hubei, Shaanxi and Yunnan, and the cities of Tianjin, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Guiyang and Baoding are to submit proposals for controlling carbon emissions by Aug. 31.

The NDRC advised local authorities to institute policies that will stimulate energy conservation and reduce emissions.
