All cars manufactured in Russia should be equipped with ERA-Glonass device starting 2012 - Putin
RYAZAN. Aug 10 (Interfax) - All cars manufactured in Russia could be equipped with the ERA-Glonass system of urgent response to traffic accidents starting 2012, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said.
Speaking at a conference dealing with the use of the Glonass satellite navigation system for development of regions, Putin said the building of the ERA-Glonass system of urgent response to traffic accidents has been started in Russia. The system is aimed at minimizing the time within which people injured in car accidents could receive aid, he said.
"ERA-Glonass should be deployed on the entire territory of the country by 2014, but I believe all new cars could be sold with elements of this system integrated as early as in 2012," Putin said.
