ENRC unveils executive director
ALMATY. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation PLC (ENRC) has announced the appointment of Jim Cochrane to the Board as Executive Director of the Group with effect from 13 August 2010, the Kazakh miner said in a press release.
"In addition the Group is pleased to announce Jim Cochrane's appointment as Chief Commercial Officer for the Group. Jim will remain Head of Sales and Marketing and will now assume responsibility for the Logistics Division," the release reads.
A mining engineer with 22 years experience in the industry, Cochrane joined the Group in February 2001 with responsibility for ferroalloy sales. In 2007 he was appointed Head of the Sales Marketing function. Prior to ENRC he worked for 12 years with Billiton/Gencor, of which 6 years were underground with Impala Platinum, according to the press release.
Cochrane is currently a Non-executive Director of JSL Stainless Ltd. He is also a Director of Central African Mining Exploration Company plc, acquired by ENRC in November 2009, which was listed on the United Kingdom's Alternative Investment Market (AIM until 8 December 2009.
ENRC was created in late 2006 as a result of reorganization of Eurasian Industrial Association and now also includes the assets of Kazchrome, Aluminum of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Electrolysis Plant, Zhairem Mining and Processing Integrated Works, Sokolov-Sarbai Mining and Processing Integrated Works, Eurasian Energy Corporation, Serov Ferroalloy Plant. ENRC also owns a 50% stakes in a joint venture with Bahia Minerals BV (BML), a project for exploration of iron ore in Brazil, and a 50% stake in Xinjiang Tuoli Taihang Ferroalloy Company in China (Tuoli).
