Unemployment rises to almost 5.4 mln in July - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax) - The number of unemployed people in Russia rose by 156,000 people in July to 5.362 million, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said on Wednesday.
The unemployment level rose 0.2 of a percentage point in July to 7.0% from 6.8% in June.
This increase in the number of unemployed was the first since January of this year, when there were 6.832 million people out of work. The unemployment peak was hit in February of 2009, when 7.05 million people had no jobs.
The number of officially registered unemployed workers in July, however, was 4.0% lower than in June at 1.79 million people.
