Russia, Spain to join forces in fighting wildfires
MOSCOW. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Spanish King Juan Carlos I on Tuesday telephoned Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and, "on behalf of the Spanish people, expressed solidarity and sympathy in connection with recent terrorist acts in Russia," the Kremlin said.
"In discussing the problem of fighting fires that have engulfed both countries this year, the Russian President and Spanish King reached an understanding to develop close interaction between specialized agencies that would involve exchanges of experience and technology," the president's office said in a press release.
"Issues of preparations for the exchange of national years in 2011 and prospective plans for highest-level contacts were also raised in the course of the conversation," the office said.
