Dollar, euro edge down on MICEX

MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - The dollar and euro are edging down against the ruble as the global equity and commodity markets pick up.

The dollar fell 4-7 kopecks to 30.84-30.87 rubles/$1 in Tom deals in the first few minutes on the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX). This is 2-5 kopecks below today's official rate.

The euro opened at around 39.17 rubles/EUR1, which is 2.5 kopecks below yesterday's close and 12.5 kopecks below today's official rate.

The dual currency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) opened the day at 34.59 rubles, or 5 kopecks below yesterday's closing value. The ruble started to strengthen against the currency basket yesterday as the equity markets and oil prices posted gains.
