Ilyushin Finance may be dropped from operational management of An-148 program

MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Ilyushin Finance Corporation (IFC) may be dropped from operational management of the program for manufacturing the An-148 aircraft.

Consolidation of the program's operational management functions will, from the Russian side, be transferred to Irkut , Irkut said in a presentation. That will see a diminished role for IFC in the operational management of the program.

The consolidation calls for a switch to direct delivery of engines and components to the Voronezh Aviation Plant (VASO), the Russian site for serial production of the An-148. Other leasing companies interested in investment in the program may also appear.

Irkut will become the exclusive seller of the An-148, to aviation companies, leasing companies, governments, and others, according to the presentation. For example, Irkut will sell planes to Sberbank-Leasing for subsequent lease to Polyot, and also sell to IFC, which will lease the planes to Atlant-Soyuz.
