Russian Gokhran to hold diamond auction Oct 26

MOSCOW. Sept 23 (Interfax) - Russia's State Precious Metals and Gemstones Repository (Gokhran) will hold its second auction of the year for large diamonds weighing 10.8 carats of more on October 26, the Finance Ministry said, without saying how many diamonds would be offered.

Bidders have until October 8 to register for the auction.

The Gokhran sold 5,500 carats for a total of $13.46 million at two such auctions in 2009, and plans three in 2010. It sold 6,474 carats for $7.876 million in rough diamonds weighing 10.8 carats or more at its first auction of 2010 on March 16.
