Russian stocks gain on good European, U.S. data
MOSCOW. Sept 24 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market posted gains Friday on the back of good data from Europe and the United States.
The MICEX stock index rose 0.42% to 1436.06 and the RTS was up 0.78% to 1488.67, although benchmark stocks moved 0.1%-3% either way.
The MICEX gained 1.3% and the RTS rose 1.7% in the week as a whole.
The MICEX Friday saw gains for MMC Norilsk Nickel (+0.9%), Lukoil (+0.3%), Polyus Gold (+0.2%), Rosneft (+0.1%), Sberbank (+0.6% ordinary shares, +3% prefs) and Tatneft (+1.7%).
But there were losses for VTB (-0.7%), Gazprom (-0.8%), Gazprom Neft (-0.6%), Rostelecom (-0.7%) and Surgutneftegas (-0.7%).
Second-tier advancers included RTM (+4.2%), Severstal (+4%), North Caucasus Inter-District Grid Company (+3.9%), OGK-2 (+2.9%), OGK-6 (+2.8%), Center and Volga Inter-District Grid Company (+2.8%) and Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) (+2.1%).
Avtovaz , which soared 30.4% yesterday, fell 5.7% today. There were also drops for Irkutskenergo (-1.9%), Bank Vozrozhdenie (-1.7%), Magnit (-1.3%) and Uralkali (-1.2%).
RTS Classic Market volume was $15.032 million, RTS Standard turnover reached $533.9 million and MICEX volume came to 40.469 billion rubles.
