Output from Sakhalin Energy's LNG plant reaches design capacity

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Sakhalin Energy's LNG plant is now producing at its design capacity, 9.6 million tonnes, company head Andrei Galaev told journalists.

"I would like to announce that we have reached design capacity for LNG production," he said.

Sakhalin Energy now accounts for 5% of the global LNG market, he said.

Gazprom Deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev said Sakhalin Energy has produced about 6 million tonnes of LNG and about 3.7 million tonnes of oil since the beginning of the year.

The operating company plans to drill 21 wells at the Piltun-Astokhskoye field. Two platforms are in operation at the field: Molikpaq and PA-B. Drilling from Molikpaq will resume in late 2011.

Drilling of seven gas wells has been completed at the Lunskoye field, he said.

The company carried out 4D seismic at Astokhskoye, the first time 4D seismic has been performed in Russia.
