Uralsib bank invites banks to take part in syndicated loan

MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) - The Russian bank Uralsib has sent a number of banks requests for proposals concerning a syndicated credit, several sources in banking circles told Interfax.

"We received a request for proposals about a week ago. For the time being, all the information in it is not public, and the deal parameters are being discussed," one of them said.

He declined to name the amount Uralsib would like to raise, but did say that it is less than the amount of the credit TransCreditBank (TCB) is seeking to raise ($325 million), but is comparable to the size of syndicated credits raised by Promsvyazbank ($250 million) and Nomos Bank ($100 million).

Alexander Dementyev, deputy chair of the Uralsib board of directors, told reporters on June 17 that the bank was not experiencing any acute need to raise money, but that offers and opportunities to borrow did exist, some of them abroad.
