Rail freight rises 9.9% to 999.2 mln tonnes in 9 mths - RZD
MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Russian rail freight volume increased 9.9% in January-September 2010 year-on-year to 999.2 million tonnes, the main computing center at Russian Railways (RZD) said in materials.
Shipments on domestic routes rose 9.5% in the nine months year-on-year to 617.4 million tonnes and freight on international routes was up 10.6% to 381.7 million tonnes.
Year-to-date growth in overall shipment volumes continued to decline in September, down from 13.2% in January-June, 11.9% in January-July and 10.9% in January-August.

High growth in import shipments of crude oil and product, iron and steel, and fertilizers continued in September, and transit of fertilizers and grain was also higher, while transit shipment of ore was down 56.9%. Shipment of mineral-construction materials via ports was up 57% in the nine months.
The ban on grain exports told on grain shipments on international routes: the shipments rose 7.3% in January-August compared with 13.7% in January-July.
