Sinovel to supply turbines to two offshore wind farms in Jiangsu

Beijing. October 13. INTERFAX-CHINA - Sinovel Wind Group Co. Ltd., China's top wind turbine manufacturer, signed an agreement to supply wind turbines to the recent winners of bids for two offshore wind farms in Jiangsu Province, a senior company executive said at the China Wind Power 2010 forum in Beijing on Oct. 13.

Tao Gang, Sinovel's vice president, said that the farms each have an installed capacity of 300 megawatts (MW) and will be developed by China Datang Corp. Renewable Power Co. Ltd. and China Power International New Energy Holding Ltd., respectively.

Tao told Interfax that Xinjiang Goldwind Science Technology Co. Ltd. and Shanghai Electric Group Co. Ltd. will supply turbines to the other two 200-MW projects involved in the National Energy Administration's (NEA) recent auction for four offshore wind farms.

He noted that the company recently reached an agreement to supply turbines to Huaneng New Energy Industrial Co. Ltd.'s 300-MW offshore wind farm in Jiangsu.

Sinovel's turbines are featured at China's first offshore wind farm in Shanghai. The 100-MW project, which was put into operation in June, helped the company win a majority market share in first national bid for offshore wind farms held last month.
