Shenhua sells 213 mln tons of coal in first 9 months

Beijing. October 20. INTERFAX-CHINA - China Shenhua Energy Co. Ltd. (Shenhua), the listed vehicle of China's largest coal producer, increased its coal sales by 12.3 percent year-on-year to 213 million tons during the first 9 months this year, according to statistics released by the company on Oct. 20.

The company's total coal output over the period reached 166.2 million tons, up 4.7 percent year-on-year, the statistics indicate. In September alone, the company produced 19 million tons of coal, an increase of 9.8 percent from the same period in 2009.

In the same month, Shenhua's electricity output shot up by 12.5 percent to reach 11.14 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), while its electricity sales amounted to10.3 billion kWh, up 11.6 percent year-on-year.

The company said its total electricity output during the first nine months surged by 48.3 percent year-on-year to 106.73 billion kWh, while its sales grew to 99.27 kWh from last year's 66.78 billion kWh.
