Russian govt suggests Renault-Nissan take AvtoVAZ stake to 50%
MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - The Russian government is discussing with the Renault-Nissan alliance the possibility of its taking its stake in Russia's largest automaker AvtoVAZ to 50%, and the alliance takes a positive view of the opportunity, its president, Carlos Ghosn, told reporters after a Tuesday meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
"The prime minister told us that he agrees that Renault-Nissan's stake in AvtoVAZ capital could be increased to 50%," Ghosn said. "For Renault-Nissan this is absolutely logical, and we understand the proposal. We will be very pleased to consider this possibility," he said.
