Inner Mongolia's installed wind power capacity hits 8 mln kW
Shanghai. November 4. INTERFAX-CHINA - Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China's largest wind-power producing region, released statistics on Nov. 3 indicating that its total installed wind power capacity has reached 8 million kilowatts (kW).
Over the first nine moths of this year, the region generated a total of 13.12 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, representing an annual increase of 82.5 percent, according to the statistics.
With over 150 million kW of total exploitable wind power resources, Inner Mongolia is home to over half of the country's total.
The local government noted that the region's vast expanses of flat grasslands and sparse population make it particularly suitable for building large-scale wind power farms.
