South Stream not related to current gas prices - Putin

SOFIA. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has stated that the South Stream gas pipeline construction project is not associated with current prices for Russian gas.

"The South Stream project is in no way connected to current prices for gas," Putin said during a press conference in Sofia after talks with his Bulgarian counterpart Boiko Borisov.

"In the end-price to the consumer, the cost of Russian gas is from one third to fifty percent. All the rest is local taxation and middleman margins," Putin said.
