MICEX stock index tops 1700

MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax) - Russia's MICEX stock index hit a new 2010 high and topped 1700 amid the general global markets upswing on Tuesday.

The index was up 1.65% to 1700.11 at 2:35 p.m. Moscow time. It breached the 1600-level on December 1.

The RTS stock index was up 1.38% to 1734.99 by the same time.

Benchmark stocks rose 1%-6% on the MICEX, led by VTB (+2%), Rostelecom (+3.1%) and Sberbank (+2.3%, and +4.5% on the RTS).
