Ukrainian bank assets up 9.1% in 11 mths
KYIV. Dec 10 (Interfax) - Ukrainian bank assets increased 9.1% to 1.093 trillion hryvni in January-November 2010, the National Bank of Ukraine said.
The assets increased 1.4% in November.
Cash, metal and National Bank funds accounted for 4.8% of bank assets as of December 1, loan operations - 69.3% and investment in securities - 7.2%.
Liabilities increased 5.7% to 807.8 billion hryvni, including an increase of 1.6% in November.
Deposits from individuals accounted for 32.5% of the total, loans/deposits from other banks - 21.4% and corporate deposits - 17.4%.
Time deposits from individuals amounted to 200.4 billion hryvni or 76.3% of all deposits from individuals and demand deposits totaled 62.3 billion hryvni, 23.7% of the total.
Combined bank capital totaled 136.8 billion hryvni as of December 1, 2010, up 0.8% in November and 8.4% in the 11 months.
A total of 175 banks were licensed to conduct operations at the end of the period, while 19 banks were in liquidation, up from 18 on November 1.
The official exchange rate on December 10 was 7.9514 hryvni/$1.
