Swiss company wins rights to new hydrocarbons section in Tomsk region

TOMSK. Dec 10 (Interfax) - LLC PetroGrand Exploration and Production has won at auction the rights to develop the Nizhnepaninsky hydrocarbons section in Tomsk region, head of the region's subsurface resource agency Tomsknedra Aslambek Germakhanov has told Interfax.

PetroGrand offered 185.9 million rubles for the license. The starting price was 169 million rubles. It was reported earlier that LLC Varandeineftegazstroy had also contended for the development rights.

According to the SPARK database, Petrogrand AB owns PetroGrand Exploration and Production.

Petrogrand's website said the company had been called Malka Oil AB, and via its subsidiary LLC STS Service held the license to work the Zapadno-Luginetsky section in Tomsk region.

Malka Oil sold STS Service to Gazprom Neft for $113 million this year.

At present, the main co-owners of Petrogrand, according to the company, are the Swedish outfits Lansforsakringar fonder (19.9%) and Metroland (7.6%), and Arab billionaire Mohammed al Amoudi (5%).

The Nizhnepaninsky section is located in the Alexandrovsky part of Tomsk region, 50 kilometers to the southeast of the regional center Alexandrovskoye.

C3 resources are 8.7 million tonnes, D1 - 12.8 million tonnes, D2 - 0.5 million tonnes. The section is 1,530.3 square km in area. It adjoins a trunk pipeline running parallel to electric power transmission lines. Two wells have been drilled at the section, and though hydrocarbon strata have not been located, signs that gas is present have been observed.
