China imports 3.48 bln cubic meters of Turkmen gas this year

Shanghai. December 13. INTERFAX-CHINA - China has imported 3.48 billion cubic meters of natural gas year from Turkmenistan's Amu Darya River project so far this year, the project's operator China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) said in a newsletter on Dec. 13.

According to the newsletter, the project has 28 wells in operation with a daily gas output of 15 million cubic meters.

CNPC began transmitting gas from Turkmenistan to the China market through the second phase of the West-East Gas Pipeline (WEP II) in late 2008.
